Transport accounts for a large amount of the world's greenhouse gases. It affects our environment and our climate. We therefore choose more environmentallyfriendly alternatives when we transport our clothes.
For KappAhl's transport to be as environmentallyfriendly as possible, we begin as early as at the negotiating table. When we purchase, we have clear and strict requirements of our partners, for example, on safety and environmental standards and working conditions.
We ship by boat
One of our goals is to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. Therefore, for example, 96 percent of our clothes is shipped by boat from the production countries to Sweden. This causes significantly less emissions than if we had chosen air transport.
But we're not satisfied with that, as even boat traffic could be more environmentally friendly. We were one of the first members of the global Network Clean Shipping Index, that works on environmental issues in shipping. Through Clean Shipping, we make requirements on those that transport our clothes, both in terms of emissions and waste, and how ships are taken care of when they are scrapped.
KappAhl is to have as little environmental impact as possible. That is why we choose to ship almost all of our clothes by boat.
When we transport our clothes, we also want to avoid sending air. Therefore, we work actively to constantly pack our clothes smarter, so we carry more clothes and less air - we ensure our boxes are as full as possible.
We also try to get our clothes delivered with other goods to the same location, such as a shopping centre. This is how we fill the trucks more and reduce transport on our roads.
