KappAhl’s new Vintage Stories collection – inspired by the mystery of the East
Autumn’s Vintage Stories collection takes us on a journey to a bygone era. The collection is filled with the mystique and steamy sensuality of the East, and has been inspired by tales from long ago, the fashion mecca of Paris and one of its most influential pioneers.

-Our designers have been inspired by the work, life and lifestyle of Paul Poiret, one of the most talked-about fashion designers of the early 20th century. It was his intuitive feeling for female fashion that finally liberated women from the corset. Poiret was also famous for his lavish parties, most especially a fancy-dress ball on an Oriental theme he called, ‘The Thousand and Second Night’, which was the talk of town for a long time afterwards,” explains Carina Ladow, Collection and Design Manager for BA Woman at KappAhl.
This has, in turn, resulted in this autumn’s Vintage Stories collection, which is filled with exquisitely detailed and expertly sewn garments in the softest velvet and the smoothest blends of silk.
The collection includes harem pants, tunics, maxi-length skirts, bolero vests, blouses and gently flowing dresses – all featuring details such as silver embroidery, brocade or heavy tassels. The colour palette echoes that of precious stones in rich, warm tones of emerald green, sapphire blue, ruby red, black onyx, amethyst violet and light champagne – with antique-feel gold and silver as stunning accents.
-The accessories in the collections are heavy and dramatic,” Carina Ladow continues. “The necklaces, bracelets and ear-rings are decorated with stones, hammered surfaces, heavy plates and chains. We’ve abandoned all that ‘less is more’ thinking to revel unreservedly in ‘more is more’.
Once again, in this season’s Vintage Stories collection KappAhl offers delightful baby clothes and children’s clothes for the youngest of the family’s females. Here, too, the theme is harem pants, dresses, cardigans and tops in gorgeous colours and pretty pattern mixes.
Vintage Stories will be available in all KappAhl stores from week 44 (1 November) onwards.
