1993
The environmental activities start • The first collection of "eco-clothes" • The restriction list of substances hazardous to the environment and health in clothing manufacturing is drawn up.
1995
Introduction of source segregation of solid waste and responsible waste management.
1997
First Code of Conduct • Environmental assessment. • Environmental coordinators appointed • First garments labelled with Oeko-Tex.
1998
The first environmental policy • Inspections at suppliers • Environmental training for all employees.
1999
The first fashion chain in the world to be environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 • Swap to green electricity • Training of internal environmental auditors • Place environmental requirements on transport • Initiate the Code of Conduct project DressCode jointly with Rena Kläder and the fashion chains H&M, Lindex and Indiska.
2000
Donate unsold clothes to charity organisations.
2001
Agreement reached on rail transport for the distribution of goods.
2002
Help to create the Foreign Trade Association’s system for code of conduct processes, which resulted in the establishment of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) • Ban on the use of PVC in rainwear and outdoor clothes.
2003
Member of IEH, Initiative for Ethical Trade
2004
Garments marked with the EU "Flower" eco-label logo • Member of BSCI
2005
Garments delivered by gas-fuelled eco-vehicles to stores in the Gothenburg region
2006
Reusable plastic hangers • Development of SAM, a tool for the enhanced management of safety, work environment and environmental protection processes.
2007
New investments in organic cotton • Intensification of the work on the Code of Conduct. • Member of the Better Cotton Initiative, BCI • The travel policy is given a clear environmental profile • Environmental requirements are set for store fixtures • Approved as investment object by Swedbank Robur for all of their ethical funds.
2008
Climate analysis of T-shirts and trousers • Climate compensation for business travel by plane • Start of the No Risk project to obtain full control of chemicals in the production • Use of green addressed direct advertising • Tests as the first clothing chain to charge for plastic carrier bags in some stores • Join the transport collaboration Clean Shipping.
2009
Carbon dioxide emissions reduced by 40.6 per cent between 2006-2009 • The profits from the sales of the eco-bag goes to Naturskyddsföreningen and investment in wind power in India • All KappAhl bags in store made from recycled plastic.
2010
Member of Business for Social Responsibility,BSR • KappAhl collected 50-öre coins for BRIS (Children's Rights in Society), Childhood and SOS Barnbyar in the "Vacuum Sweden" campaign • Collected over SEK 1.4 million for Go Red in Finland, Norway and Sweden • KappAhl started a training center to help women from the slums to get work within the ready-to-wear clothing industry • KappAhl takes care of surplus clothes amd donates them to local charities, in all markets.
2011
20 per cent of the range consists of eco-labeled fashion • Carbon dioxide emissions reduced by 32 per cent in 2010/2011 compared with the previous financial year • More than SEK 1 million raised for the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.
